El Gordo – Spanish online lottery
The game of El Gordo online de la Primitiva was created by Loterias y Apuestas del Estado (LAE) in Spain as a complement to the other two lotto games, La Primitiva and BonoLoto.
The first draw was held on October 31, 1993, and was notable for its unique feature of a single monthly draw on the last Sunday of each month.
With an initial price of 500 Pts. (The equivalent today is € 3.00) players were given a double chance to participate in the game. You can opt for a pre-printed ticket that combines the five main numbers with the refund number. Or that it was the player who, through a ticket of a different color, directly marked the combination of numbers that was to their liking.
This system was maintained until October 1997, four years later, when the draws became weekly, always on a Sunday, and with some crucial changes to its regulations.
The following draws are reserved for first-category winners, with the possibility of accessing a cumulative jackpot if there is no acertante in the previous draw.
On January 31, 2005, a significant change was made to the regulations, introducing a guaranteed minimum El Gordo jackpot of €5,000,000 and up to eight prize categories, along with a refund, which was expected to increase the chances of obtaining a prize considerably. Let’s learn more about El Gordo prizes.
What is El Gordo de la Primitiva?
El Gordo de la Primitiva online is essentially a game of chance, where the player aims to match as many numbers as possible.
When the raffle is held, five balls are randomly drawn from the 54 balls it contains, each with a number between 1 and 54.
Likewise, a ball from 10 is extracted from a second drum, numbered from 0 to 9, which consists of the key number or refund.
The player can place as many bets as they wish, and they can do so manually by selecting the numbers themselves or by allowing the system to choose a random combination.
Odds of winning El Gordo de la Primitiva prizes and jackpot
The odds of winning an El Gordo prize are 1 in 19 (matching two main numbers), while the odds of winning the first category prize increase to 1 in 31,625,100.
It may seem very distant if we compare it with La Primitiva, where the odds are one between 13.983.816, and much easier than Euromillions, in which the odds are one among 76.275.360
Most awarded numbers of El Gordo
If we look for the 10 numbers that have come out in the winning combinations more than once since the first draw, we see that they are in this order from most to least: 3, 6, 18, 21, 23, 11, 34, 27, 9, and 4
In the opposite direction, those numbers more reluctant to leave have been decreasing from 52 to 50, 54, 51, 49, 46, 48, 47, 43, and 53.
Curious, right? The numbers that have left the hype less often are precisely the highest. You can prepare your winning numbers by analyzing the current and archived El Gordo results.
